Cervical Cancer is the second most common cancer among women worldwide,
with approximately 440,000 new cases reported annually. Certain types
of Human papillomavirus (HPV) cause cervical cancer.
Testing for HPV is a far more accurate way to detect cancer and pre-cancer
than the current management strategy of repeating the Pap smear following
a borderline or mildly abnormal Pap result.
Digene's Hybrid Capture 2® HPV DNA Test detects this virus in cervical
samples. Diagnostic Technology in conjunction with
Digene is committed to educating healthcare providers,
patients and laboratory technicians about cervical
cancer, HPV and the role of Hybrid Capture® technology
in patient care.
