HISTORY

Diagnostic Technology was founded as a consequence to a decision made by Dupont de Nemours in 1990 to divest itself of its interests and products related to virology. Dupont Australia, was at this time the representative of Diagnostic Biotechnology Pte LTD, a Singapore biotechnology company, who manufactured a number of HIV related products under license for Dupont.

Diagnostic Technology began to represent Diagnostic Biotechnology in January 1991. In 1993, Diagnostic Biotechnology was acquired by Genelabs Technologies Inc, and was renamed to Genelabs Diagnostics Pte Ltd. Genelabs has subsequently been acquired by MP Bio and still represents these original products today.

Diagnostic Technology's began to represent Digene Corporation in 1992, and since that time the company has been able to establish a strong presence in the molecular diagnostic market specifically as a market leader in HPV DNA detection and its applications for cervical cancer screening. Digene was acquired by Qiagen in 2007 and the company recently transferred the marketing and distribution to Qiagen Australia

Over 19 years the company has developed an integrated product offering, specifically focused on molecular diagnostics and genetics. It has maintained sustained growth and is a recognised supplier in the diagnostic and Life Science markets. The company has been integral to the development of some of the most progressive technologies and ideas within the diagnostic industry. These include novel genomic array platforms, viral resistance testing and pharmacogenomics, new molecular testing systems and imaging systems.

The company is a corporate sponsor to the Australian Society of Microbiology.
