Research and Development Collaborations
Since 2000 Diagnostic Technology has been the chief commercial partner and has worked in collaboration with Professor Brett Neilan at the School of Microbiology, University of NSW, Sydney on a number of projects related to Cynobacteria.
One of these projects relates to the development of unique molecular based diagnostic tests to detect toxic blue greeen algae in water. Professor Neilan's work in this area resulted in his inclusion as a finalist in the environment category of the University's 2009 NSi Inventor of the Year Award hosted by UNSW's commercialisation company.
More broadly the company has been Professor Neilan's partner in the use of Cynobacteria as a source of Secondary metabolites from Non ribozomal peptide synthesis pathways.
